Erietta Kourkoulou-Latsi
Erietta Kourkoulou-Latsi has studied Sociology at the American College of Greece and soon after she completed her postgraduate studies in “Animal Studies” at New York University. Since the age of 15, Erietta has devoted herself to the protection of animals and the support of their rights, while in 2012 she founded the organization “Save a Greek Stray”, which is one of the most recognized non-profit organizations in Greece these days.
In 2020 she founded the NGO “A Promise to Animals”, which focuses on defending the rights of reproductive animals and promoting veganism as a diet and lifestyle. She is also the President of Matilda Foundation, an organization dedicated to children protection from all forms of abuse.
In 2023 she founded the Kind Things Public Benefit Foundation, which supports a number of causes, such as the support of vulnerable social groups, animal welfare, children’s rights and environmental initiatives.
In addition, Erietta maintains a strong social presence on social networks giving voice to issues concerning the general public and those that are often taboo for the Greek society, such as mental health issues, infertility issues, etc.
Finally, she is involved in a number of ethical investments like vegan start-ups and specialist investment funds, the majority of which are involved in the food technology industry.
Together with Katerina Georgakoula, they made the decision to create the first freestanding Birth Center in Greece, sharing a common vision for a respectful childbirth for every single woman.


Katerina Georgakoula
Katerina Georgakoula is a graduate of the Department of Midwifery in Athens and has worked as a midwife at King’s College Hospital in London, where she gained experience in births, including water births and home births. A large part of her experience was gained by working at the Birth Center located within the hospital . Returning to Greece she started working as an independent midwife, providing personalized care to expectant mothers and supporting hundreds of women to give birth.
In 2017, she founded the midwifery care center IROIS, which has been actively supporting women and their families on the journey of parenthood over the years.
She has also worked as a midwife for the Médecins Sans Frontières at the Geneva mission in Athens. Katerina regularly attends seminars and courses both in Greece and abroad to enhance her knowledge, while she holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Alexandroupolis on the subject of prenatal screening and delivery.
She is also an internationally certified infant massage instructor CIM (Certified Infant Massage Instructor) and organizes seminars for couples that want to experience infant massage with their babies.
She believes that love, evidence-based knowledge and support make every woman capable of experiencing her birth the way she wishes and she stands firmly by women’s side throughout pregnancy, labor and puerperium.
